  1. Where does this come from, this classic and characteristic, frighteningly unmorbid hue of skin in the portrait at the end of this series? Is this what is meant by, "black Irish?" Is this indefensibly movingly pale tan against a snowy tanline actually meant to seen outside the conjugal bower? Or is it meant to remind us that this space is portable, and vital to be occupied on sight? I can't draw the slightest resistance to that suggestion.
